I've just heard this mix myself for the first time since it was recorded and am sat here with a tear in my eye. To be honest i am a big Duncan Parks fan and had hoped we had a goodie from him & this one blew me away. Duncan helped me immensely when i decided to play records. He gave me great tunes as gifts and has inspired me ever since and i've never forgotten it. As well as that he brought something special to Vibes when he joined us at the Warehouse in January 93. His bravery dropping outstanding pop tunes into his sets was stunning and his ear for a great party tune was incredible. Along with my other great residents Haze & Phil Jubb and later Mr Dee he gave me so many options as a fledgling promoter. I always put him on before the big party Dj's like Lee Fisher, Jon Pleased Wimmin, Luv-Dup and especially John Kelly and he was just amazing. They had to follow him, and had to follow him well, which meant we all had a ball. He brought the best out of them and still does from me every time we meet up & especially play records together. I am over the moon to have this mix to share with you as like all of us he was worried that the old ones might be a bit dodgy. This mix contains so many Duncan Parks tunes its silly. The big mix with Bless the Funk and Lee Fishers own tune "All Funked Up" was truly nuts on the night and the Warehouse anthem "Party Children" by Wareband was his alone at Cultural Vibes as was Mr Jackson, Fleetwood Mac, Lets Get Horny, How Gee, etc etc etc. There are just loads of his biggies on here and to me this one mix sums up his contribution to Cultural Vibes period ! It also helps that we used a good quality cassette for this recording on the night. Having decided to release all these mixes 15 years later i am gutted we used such shitty tapes most of the time. Oh well at least i've still got them to share and most of 1994 was recorded onto DAT.............Viva Duncan Parks !
