This live set was performed by Mr C in front of approx 2200 people on the 12th November 1994. I had heard Mr C (Richard West) play a few times before i booked him and although it wasn't the sound we were known for at the time, it was definitely the way Chinn and i were looking to go musically with the night. Cultural Vibes had been hammering party music for almost a year following our druggy/trippy 1st year under the net in the Warehouse. Consequently this night took everyone by surprise but for me and Chinn it felt like a welcome return to our more underground roots. As you can clearly hear Mr C turned up and absolutely slammed the place, and i dont think i saw a funnier sight @ The Warehouse ever. Most people had turned up expecting Mr C the Shamen pop star and not a 2 hr lesson in Acid House. The whole building was totally fucked by the end with some very spun out people indeed. I knew exactly what to expect and i still lost the plot, levitating/falling backwards off the railings surrounding the Egg during L A Synthesis' Agraphobia (a tune he kindly left me with afterwards). For me Chinn and a lot of close friends this was one of the best sets ever played @ Cultural Vibes, and the small but lengthy after-party went on into Plymouth folklore. Sadly Vibes was all over before Mr C could return with friend and playing partner Murf (it's him after Mr C on mic) for his second visit in Feb 05. For me it was always a what might have been moment as playing together @ their Subterrain night they went on to create a long running London classic night @ Mr C's hugely successful soon to be club venture, The End. These days Mr C is till at the top his game juggling top London promotion Superfreq ,world wide Dj'ing commitments and a burgeoning acting career that has seen him recently re-locate to LA.
